When you first hear the term internet addiction, you may smile and think this new term is a joke. Okay, so maybe people do waste a lot of time on the internet. But how can that be such a bad thing?

Yet, internet addiction can be a serious problem. Like many addictions, it is a compulsive disorder. First, take the word addiction itself. Addiction means that you are dependent on something, it is taking up a lot of your time. Now think about the time one can waste on the internet. Okay, so an hour here and there isn't a bad thing. But if a person is addicted to the internet they will be online longer than just an hour and it won't just be an event that happens occasionally, being online is something they do daily for hours on end. This addiction can lead to time away from family and friends. It can even led to time that should be spent at work.

Internet addiction can be further explained into subcategories, too. One may not just be addicted to the internet. One can get addicted to certain activities that perform while on the internet such as: online auctions, online chat rooms, online surfing, online gaming, and this addiction can even led to more serious online problems such as online gambling and online cybersex.

How do you know if you have a problem? You should start by looking at your internet habits. Then ask yourself such questions as: How often are you online? Does being online ever interfere with your work or home duties and if so how often does it? How often do you check your email? Do people in your home complain about how often you are online? Do you continue to search out new online friends? When you are not online do you anticipate when you can go back online? Do you get annoyed when someone interrupts you while you are online? Do you loose sleep because you are online late at night? Do you ever hide the length of time you were online?

The answer to the above questions can indicate that you have a problem. If you think you do, what should you do? Like with any other health problem, you may want to consider counseling. If you can't afford counseling, you may want to check out some websites that offers some help.

It may seem strange that there are websites that help with online addiction. Yet, if you think about it online websites may be the best place for online addiction sufferer to seek help. A great site is netaddiction.com. At this site, they further explain what online addiction is. They also have online self tests you can take, to see if you have a problem and to see just how deep your problem is. They also offer advice for more serious online problems such as online gambling and online cybersex activities. They even have chat rooms where recovering addicts and family members of recovering addicts can come together and share.

Should one avoid the internet for fear of getting addicted, no? The internet is a wonderful tool. You can learn a lot online. Plus, it is a great place to just relax and have fun. But moderation is the key in any activity, including the internet.

Parents should also monitor their children to make sure that they are not becoming addicted to the internet. Some children, especially teenagers, have problems building friendships and relationships. You don't want your child's only friendships to be on the internet.

The internet and your online friends should not take the place of real life and real life people. If you remember that one sentence, you will continue to enjoy the internet in a healthy way.

The popularity of Xbox 360 is to be seen to be believed. This game system has become the favorite with all age groups. In fact seldom do you find a house without the Xbox 360 these days. With so many repair guides available, sometimes choosing the right one may seem like a confusing task. It need not be so if you were to follow these simple tips.

1. It is important to go through the index of an Xbox 360 repair guide before you buy one. This is because most of the repair guides seem to focus on just giving solutions to the Xbox 360 3 red lights error. You need to keep in mind that you could be facing other problems too with your game system. A good Xbox 360 repair guide will usually focus on all these issues.

Cerita tentang setiausaha akhbar Muhyiddin

More liberalisation will put M'sia back on investors' radar

Malaysia can return to the radar of foreign investors with further liberalisation moves and by leveraging on its competitive advantages, says an economist.

Telecommunication, according to Wikipedia, is the extension of communication over a distance. In practice, it also recognizes that something may be lost in the process; hence the term 'telecommunication' covers all forms of distance and/or conversion of the original communications, including radio, telegraphy, television, telephony, data communication and computer networking.

While defining telecom gets more and more difficult, the profit and ethics behind the business keep on diminishing. SBC spent $16B to a company whose revenue stream is declining more than 10% year over year. Verizon bought MCI, and in order to make deal lucrative, they say they will layoff over 7,000 people.

The reason for scaling-down in telecom is that the technological advancement has terribly been focused on communications. We all owe a thank to nineties for that... Lots of technical people has seen the future in Telecom and made huge amounts of mind investment to the business. Today, we are forced to live in an overly competitive industry where telecom is forced to be cheaper everyday. To make matters worse, a company called Skype appeared. This global P2P Telephony Company decided to make old fashioned definition of telecom a commodity through its Best Broadband Package which allows you to make free calls over the Internet. Other emerging companies like Net2Phone and 8x8 also flocked customers to make cheaper (sometimes free) calls.

Some traditional telecom companies have kept an awry eye on those start-ups while adopting technologies like VoIP. They mostly thought those new technologies are something to monitor and investigate. In other words, they are disruptive. Some assumed the danger and started firing QoS bullet, as those startups do not provide top-notch service like incumbents do.

The fact of the matter is, none of those business plans will hold true Adsl Dsl Modem they are based on making money on calls. Like Michael Powell said, I knew it was over when I downloaded Skype...?/p>

So, can we say that telecom is a commodity?

My answer would be no, if network providers accept to change their musty mindset. Three things are important if the Adsl Tehran background of this new notion is to be understood. First is, telecoms exist to provide Adsl Modem Router The rest needs to be handled by networking and computing companies.

The need for voice, video and data are going hand in hand. There is no value in them when there is no Internet. Thats why, the second is, the new business plan should be based on the Internet access. If telecoms want to survive, charging customers packet-based with the guarantee of excellent QoS is the only way to go. MPLS is their material to make this happen.

This way, optimization, the biggest concern of telecom industry, can be solved as the packet usage can be approximated. Demoting VoIP into an application to where it originally is can be doable in packet-based model. This new model will also disallow fighting against free-of-charge models and bring a fresh breath to network providers to generate more revenue.

Third is, not only the ability of optimization but also the prioritization and security of the traffic, if needed, will let network providers to put extra cash to their pockets. The money behind the content will not be their ball game.

Some may argue that there is no incremental cost of extra usage of packets to a network so the value behind tracking the traffic is nonsense. However, what is unseen is that it forces network providers to upgrade their systems quicker. They can also build their cost /profit structure easier.

Perils to the model would be the evolution span of MPLS and anti-spam systems. MPLS, as an immature technology, is welcomed with high expectations. Addressing all needs in such a short period of time needs a lot of investment. The story is almost the same for anti-spam solutions too. No customer would like to pay extra for spam as this is adding to the traffic that a user is using. That would force network providers to unify on an MPLS/ anti-spam model where they and their customers can rely on.

Once this new role of incumbents is well assumed with solid technology, then converting the so-called threat of telecom commoditization into an opportunity is feasible.

Do Games Consoles Make Good Gifts?

Let's face it, not a year goes by without one of the big 3 companies launching a new computer games console.

The decision that many of us face, is which one to buy..... Don't get me wrong, the fanatics buy them all as they come along, queuing up at all hours for a glimpse of the very Celcom Broadband Malaysia in technical wizardry.

For the more down to earth of us, money isn't finite, so we're looking for value for money and longevity of the support that goes along with a purchase of a gaming console. I remember buying an original Sony Playstation, at a time when the games were no longer being supported, or for that matter, developed any more....

One of the latest offerings, which I truly believe to be well supported, is the Nintendo Wii.

The television adverts are still pushing the product, the tmnet jaring are excellent, and unlike the more mainstream offerings, this is a truly family affair. Even fitness is supported with the new Wii Board.

In my opinion, and having even worked in the games industry, the Nintendo Wii makes the ideal gift for that special family member. I have no doubt that there'll be laughs-a-plenty, and you won't always be worrying about how future proof it is. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Sony's or Microsofts offerings.

No doubt, the latest release is just around the corner, please choose carefully. Don't waste your money on what can easily be described as "a dead duck". My advice is to get the Wii.

Nintendo Wii is available from:

The Popcorn Hour C-200 media streamer makes its way into the wild

Popcorn Hour C-200 media streamer
It looks like Popcorn Hour's C-200 media streamer is making its way into end-users' hands, so prepare yourself for a flurry of reviews. Our friend Brent over at GeekTonic should be jumping into the fray soon, and has kicked things off with a preview. Yeah, the C-200 is bigger than its sibling A-100, but it brings so much Celcom Malaysia the table that we'd say Popcorn Hour has packed Broadband Internet Access just as much -- if not more -- goodness per cubic inch. With space available for a hard and/or Blu-ray drive, wired and wireless networking, and USB ports to round out the input connectivity, the C-200 then adds a smorgasbord of codec support just to make sure your bits will survive the translation back into entertainment. With the "it plays anything" kind of capability the C-200 is promising, we've got a feeling that a positive review or two might be the only thing standing between us and a $300 dent in our credit cards.

The iPhone is becoming very popular and the demand for downloads is growing all the time. There are a number of choices when it comes to getting downloads for your iPhone and many websites are offering free downloads, pay per download or unlimited downloads. So how do internet speeder know which one to choose?

Everybody is looking for the free option and there are many websites where you can download free music, ringtones, movies and games. However, the problem with these free websites is that along with downloading the files that you want you will often be downloading viruses also. The download quality with free websites is usually very poor and the security is non-existant. So streamyx net you are downloading from free websites then there is really no guarantee that the files are safe or even that they will work on your iPhone. Always beware of free download sites as you really are leaving yourself wide open to malicious viruses that can do a lot of harm to both your PC and your iPhone.

Pay per download services are just that, you pay every time that you make a download. Although the cost of each download is quite low if you download a lot of files the expense can get quite high. So if you are someone that downloads a lot for your iPhone you would probably be better off with an unlimited download service rather than a pay per download.

Unlimited iPhone download services work on the basis of paying a one off joining fee and that's it. Once you have paid that joining fee you are a member and you can download an unlimited number of files as often as you like.
